Taxidermy Care at the Eagle Creek Ornithology Center

For two years in a row, our group of student-volunteers assessed the taxidermy bird collection, cleaned, repaired mounts, as well as checked and replaced pest traps. Part of this assessment is to look for historic treatments of taxidermy collections for heavy metals such as arsenic and advise safe-handling procedures for staff.
